This too shall pass

Morning friend.

We’re back.

Salt still in the kit.
Hands torn and bums sore.
A full night’s sleep is just a memory.

There’s a phrase that’s been said more than once over the past few days.

This too shall pass.

It sounds simple.

It’s anything but.

When the sea turns, when the wind shifts, when your back is burning and there are still miles to go - that moment feels permanent.

Pain has a way of convincing you it will never end.

So does pressure.

So does uncertainty.

But here’s the part we forget.

So does praise.

So does success.

So does comfort.

The hard miles always pass.

The good moments pass too.

Nothing in life is permanent.

Which means two things.

First - don’t collapse in the storm.

Second - don’t get drunk on the calm.

Balance and fulfilment lives somewhere in the middle.

The acceptance that good and bad will pass and that there will always be another wave to surf.

Before we go any further, let’s debrief together:

What are you treating as permanent right now?

A recent setback?
A difficult relationship issue?
Criticism?
A massive win?

If it feels tough, remember it will pass.

If it feels glorious, remember it too shall pass.

The work here is to stay level.

To keep rowing when it’s rough.
To keep rowing when it’s smooth.

Your mission this week (if you choose to accept it):

Pick one thing you’re struggling with and remind yourself that it will pass.

Pick one thing you are winning at, a recent success perhaps and remind yourself that this too shall pass.

Maintain perspective.

Long-term happiness doesn’t come from chasing highs or fearing lows.

It arrives from the knowing that you can endure both and that tomorrow is always a new beginning.

Fulfillment is always found somewhere in the middle.

That’s enough for now.

More next Sunday.

Mike
